2005 - Switzerland

The Morasani Post Hotel in Davos where we stayed for the week.
Davos, Switzerland elevation 5000 ft.
The family at dinner the 1st night. We only "dressed up" the 1st and last nights.
The meals were outstanding. A sample of the appetizer buffet on the last night.
The chef needed a little help getting his sauces just right.
An afternoon break at Schneider's Bakery in Davos.
Eileen really hated all the goodies.
Lake Davos on the outskirts of town.
Bobbi and Roy.
The lake itself without all the tourists in front.
Jakobs Horn. 8500 ft. mountain in Davos. Young Mr. Kifer is only 4 months old and already they named a mountain for him.
Town of Davos from Jakobs Horn.
Two old goats grazing on the mountain top.
It snowed the night before so I had to make a snowball before it melted.
A view of the Swiss Alps.
Werner Lehnherr our Swiss guide. Neither of us is that tall. Eileen was sitting when she took this picture.
Never too late in the evening to enjoy the chocolate in the window.
Sertig Valley as seen from Jakobs Horn.
Paul and Ruth hiking in Sertig Valley.
The rest of us resting trying to catch up with them.
A three tiered waterfall at the end of the valley.
There's those two goats again in the valley.
A "Swiss Miss" (or Mrs.) hiking the stream bed in the valley.
Same stream, just a little further behind.
"Local color" (and music) provided.
The town of Appanzel. Our first road trip.

A restaurant in Appanzel for lunch.
A table for four with a local brew in hand.
Another fine meal along the way.
A huge church in the town of St. Galean.
Many new friends were made while in St. Galean.

Welcome to Luzerne. Just a coincidence that Bucherer's is one of the fine department stores in town.
As you can see there are street musicians in every city in the world.

The wooden walking bridge to cross the river in Luzerne.
The Lion monument in Luzerne.
Looking from the walk bridge up towards the castle on the mountain in the distance.
The bridge from the other side.
Lunch along the river in Luzerne. (looks like Paris)
Hotels along Lake Luzerne.

After a hard day of mountain climbing, shopping and eating, the bus ride home is a relief.
Sometimes only one of us can't hack it...

And sometimes both of us are ready to keep going.
The "Heidi Express" from Davos to Poschiavo.

All Aboard for the happy travelers.
A real glacier seen from the train through a mountain pass.
Another glacier with many small "waserfalls" going down to the lake below.
The train station in Poschiavo.
An Italian lunch in Poschiavo. The town is only 30 miles from Italy.
Skulls dug up when the church there was expanded. Recognize anyone ?
This is the Catholic Church on the main square of Poschiavo.
This is the cemetary behind the church.
Another long mountain stream running down to the valley.
A differnt glacier among the snow capped mountains.
The train leaving Davos.
The train entering a protection cover approaching a glacier covered mountain.
This is the Julier Pass which we took by bus to St. Moritz.
Even in the middle of this mountain pass, always time for a gift shop.
Our tour guide Werner gives logistical instructions to us in St. Moritz.
On the luge heading ??? nowhere.... no snow.
Some of the rich and famous that visit St. Moritz.
The main square (? looks like a circle) in St. Moritz.
Fine lunchtime dining in St. Moritz.
The center of a very small village (Garda) in the heart of the mountains. Population app. 300.
